KOLDERSTOK BATAVIA / HAARLEM

@amazone Thank you Dirk. Everything you say is correct. The kuil is the right place and the place that will give me the most work! The bakdek would have been much easier ... but alas ...:)

Good "evening" everyone. I first want to apologise for my long absence (I had to fetch this bouwverslag from pagina 3!) and only sporadic appearances. Because I work and earn my living in China I do feel obliged (for a 54-year old white South African to find a teaching job almost anywhere is almost impossible) to help whoever I can get when I get asked for help. Slightly more than a month ago a Chinese Model Ship Company, approached me to help market their Plank-on-Frame Bluenose kit in the West. Since this is the only POF Bluenose kit in the world I couldn't very well refuse. So this has taken up all of my time during the last month. I am happy to say that the kit has been very successfully launched and I already have more than 20 orders. I would like to show you what the kit looks like, but I am not sure where to post it since it is not strictly a bouwverslag (not yet in any case). However, with this out of the way let's get back to the Haarlem.

This is just a geheel plaatje to show where we were and now you alkso get to see what I look like! :)

So in my last post I mentioned that I finished the verschansing on the starboard side. Before I went any further with anything else, I also decided to put up the railings on that side as you can see in the picture above.

Geheelplaatje. Die geel verf moet nog netjies ingesny word.

With the railings up, it was time to tackle the fortuining and verschansing on the verdek.

En n geheelplaatje.

And then it was time for the cannons on the starboard side.

And that is where we are tonight. I am very happy that I have finally put the cannons in the kuil (even if it is only on the starboard side). Now I have to switch forums again and go check on what is happening to the Bluenose.

Please take care my friends and cherish your shipbuilding time. (These days I feel like an administrator - not like a builder!)

Until next time / Vriendelijk groet
Heinrich
