Ik vraag mij af wat ze in die filmpjes doen om zulke agressieve explosies te krijgen?
Met gewoon kortsluiten lukt je dat niet, althans, ik heb meerdere pakketten kortgesloten zien worden, maar nog nooit zulke explosies?
Laatste keer was een 3s 2200mAh FP pakket van mijzelf. Was iets gaan bollen en dan gebruik ik ze niet meer, dus opzettelijk kortgesloten. Pakket was geladen. Na pak -m- beet 10 minuten had het pakket een dikte bereikt dat de mantel scheurde en er een beetje rook uitkwam (3x) maar het leek in de verste verte niet op de explosies die ze in deze filmpjes laten zien?

Eh.. wat je zegt, kan niet. Je stelt op je lader niet in 'hoeveel' je er in wilt stoppen. Je stelt wel een laadstroom in, die kun je idd te hoog instellen.. maar ook dan gaat het niet zo hard, weet ik helaas uit ervaring.
Als je gaat overladen krijg je nog de meest heftige reactie, wederom in mijn beperkte ervaring, maar niets zo heftigs als wat ze in deze filmpjes laten zien. Ik heb de indruk dat ze met opzet 100A in die lipo's proberen te stouwen ofzo..

Ik ook, maar met gewoon kortsluiten gebeurt er buitengewoon weinig.....
Er zijn hier een paar sceptische mensen, maar ik vraag mij toch af waarom, bij laptop's, telefoon''s heb je een hele goede gecontoleerde omgeving waar bij er altijd twee beveiligingen voor het laden zijn en 1 beveiliging tegen te ver ontladen. En toch vliegen er hier ook van die dingen in de lucht en worden er, volgens mij zitten ze nu al boven de 10 miljoen terug roep acties gedaan. En dan nog blijven hier mensen roepen dat het niet hoeft, in een omgeving waar veel meer dingen fout kunnen gaan als bij de boven genoemde producten.

Ik blijf er dus niet bij en ik wil het dan toch veilig doen, dan is zo'n zak of een kist met brandwerende plaat helemaal geen slecht idee. Het verkomt gewoon brand in huis als het toch fout gaat.

Op zich heb ik niets tegen veiligheid hoor.. zoals gezegd, erbij blijven of een voorziening zoals een bloempot etc, brandblusser, EHBO kit.. allemaal niets mis mee.
Ik geef alleen een beetje tegengas op het punt van deze zakken, omdat ik niet zie wat ze toevoegen ten opzichte van zelf simpel uit te voeren huis-tuin-en-keukenmaatregelen.
Daarnaast denk ik dat mensen te bang zijn voor lipo's. Er wordt hier gedaan alsof het zwaar instabiele explosieven zijn, terwijl dat volgens mij niet zo is.
Als lipo's zomaar spontaan zouden ontploffen of in de fik vliegen, dan was de kokam fabriek al meerdere malen afgefikt, of bijvoorbeeld het postkantoor.. jaarlijks worden er 1000-en lipo's bij mensen of bedrijven afgeleverd door koeriersbedrijven. Als het echt zo was dat lipo's regelmatig spontaan zouden ontbranden, dan zou het statistisch gewoon onmogelijk zijn dat er nog niet meerdere incidenten in postkamers etc mee gebeurd zouden zijn.
Toch is dat niet zo. Dan kan er dus maar 1 conclusie zijn en dat is dat het enorm zeldzaam is dat lipo's 'zomaar' in de fik vliegen.
Je vergelijking met een mobieltje is overigens wel een mooie. Ik vraag mij af of de mensen die hun lipo's laden in zo'n zak, hun mobieltje ook laden in zo'n zak.. of dat ze het dan wel ineens overdreven vinden..

Gebruiker jwt'je hier op het forum heeft zijn T-rex bij aankomst op het postkantoor als verbrand en stinkend pakket kunnen ophalen. De Flightpower lipo was om e.o.a. reden afgefikt en heeft de inhoud van de doos goed beschadigd...

Ik ontken niet dat lipo's kunnen ploffen, ik vraag mij alleen af of dat daadwerkelijk in de mate gebeurd die sommigen je willen doen geloven..

In welke mate het gebeurd, is idd niet bekend, dat ben ik wel met je eens. Je hoort ook alleen het geval wat niet goed gaat, wat wel goed gaat... waarschijnlijk (en hopelijk) ontelbare keren.
Wel feit is... dat het kan gebeuren. En de gevolgen KUNNEN verschrikkelijk zijn. Genoeg redenen om (misschien) overdreven veilig te zijn.

De vergelijking gaat wat mank omdat de behuizing van een/mijn gsm lipo wel anders is dan die van lipo's die worden gebruikt in vliegende modellen. Daarbij maakt een accu in een gsm, in de regel, niet zulke klappers, en is het één cel met zeer geringe ampèrage.
Misschien zijn er gevallen bekend waarbij een auto of een, gedeelte van een, huis is afgebrand door een lipo van een mobiel, maar ik ken ze (nog) niet. Daarentegen ken ik ze wel van lipo's die gebruikt worden in de rc wereld ;-)

Helaas behoorde onze batterij niet tot het lijstje, anders hadden we een nieuwe gekregen voor een 2 jaar oude laptop...Mijn vrouw draagt trouwens de risico's, want het haar laptop is een HP.

Om een lipo brutaal te laten exploderen moet je gewoon overladen. Dit doe je op 2 manieren:
- nicd/nimh programma: de lader gaat door tot er een peak is geweest. Bij lipo's komt die er pas als de boel deftig in de fik staat.
- Een 2S laden op het programma van 3S, 3S laden als 4S, enz....

Zelfs op met NiCd/NiMH instellingen lukt het opblazen van de LiPo's niet (getest met $7,95 1500mAh 10C Hong Kong LiPo). De Graupner Ultra Duo Plus 50 slaat af voordat het ernstig wordt. Kennelijk zit daar best snuggere software in. Bij laden op bijv. 10A is het na 5 seconden alarm op de lader omdat de interne weerstand van de accu niet aan de maatstaven voldoet. Echt knallen lukt allen op het Pb-programma: 12V 10A en *hopla* een bolle LiPo en een alarm op de lader. :?
Ander verwoede pogingen om een zwaar onderkoelde LiPo door te laden (110% capaciteit 4,4V afslag) en vervolgens lekker boven een straalkacheltje leggen (45°C) resulteerde ook alleen maar in een snel afgetakelde capaciteit maar geen explosie.
Als ik mijn LiPo's laad (van 2S 240mAh tot 5S 4400mAh) dan zit er altijd een balancer en thermometer op. Maximaal met 2C laden en er kan je toch verrekte weinig gebeuren. Laden van de kleine accuutjes doe ik stiekem uit voorzorg toch in een stenen beker tot tussen 3 gipsblokken. Veiligheid voor alles. En ja, ik heb sneller NiMH's uit elkaar gekregen (4600mAh's geladen op 6A en *knal*). 8O

Ik volg deze thread nu al een tijdje en hoor goede argumenten van beide kanten. Eén ding wil ik deze discussie toch nog even meegeven. Wereldwijd worden binnenkort de regels voor het vervoeren van LiPo's sterk aangescherpt. Dat doen ze niet voor niets. Net als bij NiCad en met name NiMH (zeker die van 2006/2007) zijn er de nodige risico's verbonden met LiPo akku's. Deze zijn NIET beperkt tot laden, ontladen, warmte of sluiting. Er zijn o.a. gevallen bekent (b.v. in de RC autoracerij) waarbij deze packs na een harde klap ook tot ontbranding komen.
Een gewaarschuwd mens telt voor twee. Wees voorzichtig en doe geen rare dingen zoals b.v. laden in een hete omgeving, laden boven 1C etc. Of je daarbij een LiPo zak gebruikt moet je, totdat er ergens regels voor worden opgesteld, geheel zelf weten.
Voor diegenen die hier aangeven dat bepaald gedrag bij hun nog niet tot problemen heeft geleid nog een laatste paar gedachten. Allereerst, wat nu goed ging hoeft de volgende keer niet goed te gaan. Er zijn eenvoudigweg teveel variabelen die je zelf niet goed onder controle hebt om zeker te zijn dat het altijd goed gaat (geldt zelfs voor de "normale" aanpak). Iets dat een bekende Nederlandse electrorijder vorig jaar ontdekte toen het bij hem met zijn NiMHs toch ook echt een keertje misging (dit maal sluiting). Ten tweede, bij de akku's die jij gebruikt gaat het wellicht goed, maar er zijn vele verschillende akku's in omloop en die zijn echt niet allemaal even betrouwbaar en veilig. Safety first is echt geen domme aanpak.

LiPo's vliegen in de fik wanneer er Lithium metaal ontstaat. In de accu's zit geen metallisch Lithium maar een Lithiumzout (Lithium Ionen). Zolang dat een Lithium zout blijft is er niets aan de hand en hoef je nergens bang voor te zijn. Dat Lithium zout kan weer omgezet worden in metallisch Lithium. Dat gebeurt meestal via elektrolyse.
Wat heeft dat met LiPo's te maken? Wel, wanneer je een accu gaat laden vindt er in de accu een elektrochemisch proces plaats waardoor de accu elektrische energie omzet in chemische energie. Op een gegeven moment is de accu vol en kan er dus geen energie meer opgeslagen worden. Wanneer je dan toch energie in de accu blijft stoppen dan moet die energie ergens heen. Een deel van die energie zal elektrolyse veroorzaken waardoor het Lithiumzout ontbonden wordt en er dus metallisch Lithium ontstaat. Er ontstaat ook een beetje zuurstof en zuiver Lithium en zuiver zuurstof passen niet bij elkaar. Zo zal de accu op gaan zwellen en uiteindelijk openbartsen en flink gaan fikken.
Dit effect is het sterkste wanneer je langduring niet al te snel overlaad. Wanneer je dus een 3S LiPo accu hebt en je laad hem alsof het een 4S is dan ben je er zeker van dat je overlaad. Laad je met een niet te hoge stroom (maximaal 1C maar liever niet meer dan 0,5C) dan zal na verloop van tijd de accu echt ploffen en gaan fikken.
Nu hebben de fabrikanten niet stil gezeten en zitten nog niet stil. Er wordt vanalles bedacht om maar te voorkomen dat er metallisch Lithium ontstaat. Dat lukt steeds beter waardoor het steeds moeilijker wordt om een accu in de fik te laten vliegen. Het het is echter nog steeds niet voor 100% te voorkomen.
Daarom moeten we allemaal gewoon voorzichtig zijn en blijven en geen gekke dingen doen met de accu's. Als je vindt dat hier zo'n LiPo zak bij kan helpen dan prima, gebruik hem maar blijf voorzichtig!
