The EeZeBilt skins were originally designed to be made out of 1/16 inch balsa - about 1.7mm. This makes it easy for a child to cut, trim and bend. The skins would usually be held on with pins while the glue was drying.
Your boats are being made with a much harder wood (ply) and about twice as thick! So you are finding it MUCH harder to fit and glue the skins. Even changing to 1mm ply would make it easier...
Hi Dodgy
i know the EeZeBilt were designed for Balsa ,
the story and info on your website is very clear and great ( to read the history )
the reason we did choose for the PLY was i have many plates here , bought them a while ago cause the kids did like to jigsaw
it was complete a surprise when i was looking and reading on your site that one of the twins came with the idea ,
after she was watching the Cresta , she would also like to build one ,,
well the last time i did something with wood (like modelboats and other wood working) is about 25 - 30 years ago
so the only ply or wood i have is only the 2,5 mm thick ply thought it must be sofar no problem
and in fact it isnt but i discovered the ply is water resistant

this is why it needs at least 48 hours in water , after they bend very well ,
but i need to help the kids with it (ok not the meaning of the EezeBilt) but when the ply once bent the kids can glue it without any problems cause it stays in the shape
if they want to build a different model (which I know for sure) i will take some balsa wood to see how this will work out for them
For the moment the kids are pretty busy with other things , but they only need to add the bottom ,
then sandpaper everything , and make it water resistant ,, and paint the Cresta so far so good
only about the motor we arent sure yet what to do , so this is why we wait till we know
