HMS Agamemnon

Hi Guys,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as a new member to the forum.
My Name is Tony Mobbs (mobbsie) and I live in Harwich Essex in the UK.
I started modelling in October 2011 after having retired in Feb the same year.
I have so far completed 5 builds, have been defeated once and am currently building HMS Agamemnon.
I am also a member of MSW and have made a great number of friends on that forum.

I will be posting some pictures of my past builds as well as my current build just as soon as I find out how it all works.

Be Good

Well! Nice!

A warm welcome on this Dutch site:D

It's not often that someone from abroad is posting here.

Looking forward to your photos - and please feel free to ask us how things work on this forum.

Welcome Mobbsie. Another Agamemnon build to look forward to. I can imagine a Dutch forum can be a bit of a puzzle. So don't hesitate to ask if you're trying to figure it out. Plenty of helping hands around :)

Welcome Mobbsie, i was a bit suprised to see you here, but it's a pleasant suprise.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
For my friends on this forum; Mobbsie's build on MSW was the final step for me to build the HMS Agamemnon when i discovered his build log ;)

welcom mobbsie i hoop you can find you way here

and e good dutch englich translator maby wil do the job fore you if you wanne follow the odder topics

This is what you get when you have an English friend :D:D

Welcome from me also my friend !
For the people who can not read English, please say so and we will translate it for you !

Thank you Gents for your very warm welcome,
I'm hoping to fit in and do not intend to use a translator all the time, hopefully I will learn written Dutch as I go, they say you cant teach an old dog new tricks, well this is one old dog who is going to try at least.
Please be patient with me.

mobbsie

I think it's no problem at all when there are some mistakes in the English language, as long as we know what he or we mean.

Hi Guys,
Things are going a little haywire at the moment and the written word is not working very well.
Please be patient with me until I get used to things, I already seem to have lost a couple of posts.

Welcome to the forum Mobbsie,

Success in building and look forward to seeing the pictures of the construction.

PFFFF.. English remains difficult for me.

Next time I'll call Sjors ;);)

Also from me a very welcome Mobbsie.
Again a Agamemnon, It's become bizzy here with english ships.
The third Agamemnon and a couple of Victory's.

Hi Mobbsie, welcome :D !!!

We've all heard about you and your work on MSW. Very nice to see you have the courage to try and fit in with de dutch woodworms. I'm sure te members here will help you out with the language and make you feel at home.
Don't take any comments on the anglo-dutch wars personally. ;) Just as in the seventeenth century, there's a lot of respect both ways and a lot to learn from each other.
I'm very much looking forward to reading about your build of the Agamemnon. There is so much more to learn when you see the same ship built in slightly different ways.

Hope you have a nice time here!

Talking about the Anglo-Dutch wars,

We were visiting the Royal Armories museum in Leeds last year, and I was a bit surprised to see that what we call "de Engelse oorlogen" (the Anglo wars) in the UK are called "the Dutch wars"

Sometimes little things can strike you.

Back in the 17th century the intense rivalry between the British and the Dutch, both countries fighting to build their global empires, led to many phrases being coined by the British navy to insult their Dutch counterparts like going Dutch, Dutch courage, Dutch metal, Dutch nightingale, Dutch concert, Dutch treat and my personal favorite... Dutch oven.
Seems a bit strange to me that we don't have sayings like that about the English.

Goedemorgen Heren,

Be Good
